Bushwalking at Rumbalara

Last Sunday, Zoe, Bret, Daniel and I went bushwalking up in Rumbalara near Zoe and Brets place. On the way over Daniel and I had placed bets on how far we thought Zo would make it before she gave up, surprisingly she made it much further then either of us thought possible, although she was walking fairly slow and we had to stop for a couple of rest breaks.

A Day of Sandboarding and Fish & Chips

Today Daniel and I went sandboarding, well actually I went sandboarding and Daniel took photos for my duneboarder website.

We went to North Entrance first, mostly I was just messing around on the jumps there, which is much fun. The Dunes are all small enought that when you go down, it doesn't take up all your energy walking back up, which I like :)

After North Entrance we headed north to Pebbley Beach (I think that's what it's called) It's north of Soldiers beach and south of Norah Head. Basically the beach has just one massive dune on it. My first go down I managed to stack it and roll half way down the dune, while down the bottom I found a homemade wooden toboggan and figured I would try it out, the thing weighed heaps and took forever to drag all the way back up the dune. The toboggan looked great, it was just a flat piece of wood, with the nose curved up and rope at the front... Unfortunately it was way too heavy and didn't go any good at all - I guess that's why it had been abandoned there.

Next Daniel had a go tobogganing on the For Sale sign, he didn't really go the best, I think he weighed to much for it, but he did make it all the way to the bottom of the dune at a nice leisurely cruising pace. He had also managed to make a nice smooth path all the way down the dune. My next attempt was standing up on my sandboard. With the path Daniel had made, the sandboard flew down the dune, It was going very very very fast, Until at the bottom of the dune the board went under a root, which then caught my ankle sending me flying face first into the sand. Not the best way to stop, but I guess at least I didn't hit the rocks which were the next things that were going to stop me.

We messed around on the boards a bit more and watched some other boys sandboarding on their bodyboards, I took a few pictures of this for the duneboarder site, cause they were going pretty good. After that we stopped of for a nice lunch of fish and chips at Norah Head.
